Fleury d'Aude
Fleury d'Aude, the historic inland village, Saint-Pierre la Mer, the seaside resort, the Cabanes de Fleury, the former fishing village, is a preserved world where everyone naturally finds their place in harmony with nature, beach, scrubland and endless vineyards. Fleury has been inhabited since antiquity. In the Middle Ages, it took the form of a "castrum" (fortified village) built on a hilltop and dominated by the castle of the lords of Pérignan, which was the village's name at that time.
Saint-Pierre la Mer
Saint-Pierre la Mer is a family seaside resort where everything has remained human-scaled. The station's identity comes from its large sandy beach (5 km linear) divided in two by the Roc de la Batterie. On one side, the beach extends to Pissevaches pond, on the other to "Brossolette" harbour.
The Cabanes de Fleury
The Cabanes de Fleury, a charming small port, was originally a fishing village made up of crude reed huts. Today it is a hamlet nestled in vast protected salt marshes, guaranteeing authenticity and tranquility.Domaine de l’Oustalet
At the heart of 600 hectares of protected scrubland, ponds, trails and pristine expanses lies the Oustalet Estate. Property of the Coastal Conservancy, it was restored by Fleury Municipality. The old Languedocian building now serves as a welcoming point and departure for numerous hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking trails. Situated in the center of a quiet, shaded park, the pony club and mini farm housing chickens, pigs, rabbits, goats... delight the youngest visitors.
The Gouffre de l’Œil Doux: A Must-See Natural Wonder
The Gouffre de l'Œil Doux is a sinkhole located in a protected area within the Narbonnaise Regional Natural Park in the Mediterranean. It's essential when planning time near Narbonne. This sinkhole is actually a cenote — a deep natural well in karst terrain, completely or partially filled with water. It's circular in shape, approximately 14 meters deep. Swimming is forbidden. But the emerald expanse of water is magnificent! It resulted from the collapse of high limestone cliffs 40 meters tall. The upper layer is freshwater while the lower layer is seawater. This explains the slightly brackish water color. A trail circles this sinkhole and hiking reigns here, whether on foot or bicycle. The Bee Wall
An ancient dry stone beehive located in the Clape massif, the Wall of Bees in Fleury d'Aude testifies to traditional beekeeping in the Narbonne region. Its niches formerly housed hives in hollow tree trunks called "bucs."
